What is performance based marketing?
The Leadhound Network team is dedicated to provide
"Pay Per Action" performance for advertisers
across the net. If you operate a site that requires
promotion of a product or service and would like to track
affiliates in real time and prefer only to pay for advertising
when you get the results you require, then Leadhound is the
system for you!
Does Leadhound run on our server or yours?
Our software is designed to
run 100% on your server.
Is there a set limit on the number of merchants or affiliates that can
join my network?
No, we do not set any
limitation on the number of
merchants or affiliates that
can sign-up to your network.
Please note that Leadhound
Lite is only designed for
one merchant with unlimited
affiliates.
Can we make modifications to the scripts ourselves?
Yes, you are free to modify
our code. However, we also
offer our services to perform custom scripting.
Is the Leadhound brand name visible on my site?
No, we allow you to fully
customize the look and feel
of your site, our brand name
does not have to be visible
on any pages (however all
voluntary links are much
appreciated.)
Is Leadhound template driven?
Yes, Leadhound is template driven for the most part.
There are some HTML pages (est. 20) but the affiliate, merchant, and staff areas are
template based.
Will Leadhound software work on Windows NT server?
No, our system is specifically designed to run on Linux. However,
this does not stop websites from using our software, as we offer dedicated servers that you can link to from your website
to administer your performance based marketing needs.
Can we change the threshold for payments due to affiliates?
Yes, in staff area you can lower or raise minimum payout which is defaulted to 50.00 USD per calendar month.
How does the system pay affiliates?
Affiliate statements are generated in the staff area where you can enter date, check number, and amount
paid as a permanent record of the transaction. We also support PayPal as an optional method of payment for affiliates.
Is it possible to easily translate Leadhound into a different language?
It is possible, but not so easy. Some text is in the templates (that is the easy part) but there are a
lot of text fragments hard-coded into the scripts - that is a little bit harder.

What is Leadhound?
Leadhound is cutting edge software that allows webmasters to subscribe to your
online advertisement campaigns and promote your products and services through
banner, buttons, and text links pointing to your website.
What are Unique Impressions and Unique Clicks?
A unique impression is when a banner is displayed on an affiliate's web site. This does not mean that
anyone has, or will click on the banner, it is just displayed. A unique click is when someone clicks
(repeated clicks from one individual do not count) on the banner displayed. If your site's visitor
views the same banner in less than 24 hours either by re-visiting, or by refreshing or reloading the page,
then impressions do not count and non unique impressions are reported.
Time is tracked from the last unique impression timestamp, so non-unique impressions do not reset the
time mark again. After 24 hours the next unique impression may be generated from same visitor. The same
rule applies to unique clicks.
What is minimum payment policy?
You can set the minimum payout threshold that must be generated for an affiliate
to be eligible for the payment in staff area.
Do you guarantee that I will make money with your program?
Also, how much do you think I can make?
We provide only the tools you need. The amount of money you can make is based on
the amount of effort you put into your business, but there is no doubt that many
users are making big money every month.
Can affiliates edit personal information?
Yes, they need to login to the members area and click on the personal
information link, entering a section which allows members to modify their
information.
Can affiliates append a sub-affiliate ID?
If an affiliate has subaffiliates they can append '&sub=subaffiliateID' to
any campaign which will identify their subaffiliate, i.e. their e-mail address,
or own internal member ID, to review individual user statistics and share the
commission payment with sub-members.
What happens if users lose or forget their passwords?
No problem, our system will e-mail a copy of a password if someone forgets it.
All that users need to remember is their e-mail address which they used when
registering as a member and the server will automatically send a reminder to
that address.
When are affiliate account statistics updated?
Statistics are updated in real time - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Can merchants edit personal details?
After a merchant modifies their personal contact or billing details, a staff member will be notified of
the update so they can review before accepting the modification. We will automatically notify you and a
member of our staff that you have requested updates.
How does a merchant add a new campaign?
There are three steps to adding a new campaign. After clicking on the link "Add new campaign" the merchant will be redirected
to the screen which contains information on how to enter details in order to create a campaign.
- Campaign title - this is name assigned to the campaign. Remember this is the first impression that affiliates get
when reviewing offers to promote, so be creative.
- URL to direct traffic to - website address where end-users are redirected when clicking a campaign
banner, or text link
- Fixed amount per lead / sale - specify a flat fee per lead or sale, all amounts are based on USD
- Percentage amount per lead / sale - specify a variable fee based on the total order value
example: if you are a UK merchant and want to pay 5% of the shoppers total in GBP, and the basket total is 60.00 GBP our system
will calculate 60.00 x 5% then convert to USD. For US clients the amount is a straight percentage.
- Amount you want to pay per click - use this option to specify the amount you would like to pay if you
wish to run a per-click banner campaign. This will increase your sites profile
- Amount you want to pay per impression - use this option to specify the amount you would like to pay if you
wish to run a per-impression banner campaign. This will increase your sites profile
- Campaign begins on - enter a date for the campaign to start. This date does not need to be the same day
that you enter the details
- Campaign expires on - enter a date the campaign should expire on. This date needs to be a minimum of seven
days in advance of a start date
- Description - enter descriptive text about the product or services. Affiliates will have the option to use
this text to promote your campaign effectively
- Campaign Content - place check marks in the boxes next to the content categories that you would like your
offers to be listed under. By choosing content categories that better suit your product/services, your campaigns will be placed on
affiliate web sites that are better targeted than others
- Country Filter - you can select which countries can review your offer.
example: you may have affiliates based in the UK, France, or Russia. By using the country filter you can include or exclude
affiliates from any of the listed countries
- Adding Banners - you can upload all standard sized banners (468x60, 392x72, 234x60, 125x125, 120x240, 120x90,
120x60 or 88x31 pixels). Currently, we support one image per file size. You can browse your hard drive for your banners and
then upload them to our server
Can merchants end a campaign early?
Yes, there is an option in the merchant area to remove campaigns. After this option has been selected, the server will notify
staff that you want to close the offer. The server will notify concerned affiliates that your offer is closing. Default time to
expire campaigns is 8 days after notification has been given.
Can merchants replace banners and/or text links on an existing campaign?
Yes.
Can merchants review their account balance at any time?
Yes, the first screen shows the merchants current account balance. Activity from your campaign is automatically deducted.
Merchants can increase this balance by clicking "add funds to your account".
What is percentage base tracking?
Percent based tracking is managed by cookies, and is quite easy to install. Merchants are required to install a few lines of
code on the confirmation or thank-you page, or output this value to the page on your site that is right after the credit card,
or after specific action has been accepted.
Percentage calculation is based on total amount. Percentage set in the campaign set-up and commissions to affiliates are credited
to their accounts in real time.
What is flat fee tracking?
This is one of the simplest ways of tracking and it involves a small amount of code to be inserted in your thank-you
or confirmation page. HTML code is static, so if the campaign is fixed lead, simply select the code from the "get HTML"
area and the merchant is required to add the code to their confirmation page.
When our lead tracking script is called it adds a credit to the account of the affiliate that referred the lead or sale.
This is the fixed amount that was specified and will be paid to the affiliate. At the same time this amount will be
deducted from the merchant's account balance.
How does a merchant display leads and/or sales generated through the network?
Merchants can review details on the orders received from each campaign. By using a link provided in the members area they can review
the following information:
- order date
- result
- affiliate ID
- order ID
- amount of order
- IP address which placed the order
- HTTP refer
- MD5 signature
Can a merchant review details of affiliates?
Yes, the default setting is to allow merchants to review affiliate details. However, if you do not want to give
access to affiliate details then it is possible to add this as a custom option, at an additional cost.
Can merchants automatically or manually approve affiliates to promote their campaign?
Yes, the merchant will select which option they prefer when setting up a campaign.
Do you provide merchants with a co-branded sign up page?
Yes, each campaign is capable of having its own co-branded affiliate sign-up page. This means that merchants can create a web page
on your server which has their websites' look and feel. Any other affiliate that joins the network from their links, and which are
approved, are automatically e-mailed HTML code to the merchant offer. As a bonus to the merchant we set a default 5% monthly residual
for recruiting the new affiliate to the network.
Can merchants e-mail updates to their affiliates?
Yes, there is an option to send a newsletter for each merchant campaign. The default setting is for staff members to approve any
mailings. After being approved the e-mail is scheduled for delivery.
What campaign statistics are provided for merchants?
There are eleven headings under campaign stats:
- Campaign name
- Subscribed (number of affiliates)
- Year
- Month
- Total impressions
- Unique impressions
- Total clicks
- Unique clicks
- Leads
- Sales
- Cost
Can a merchant remove an affiliate from a campaign?
Yes.
Can merchants offer bonuses to super-affiliates?
Using the super affiliate option enables you to pay a higher commission rate to specific affiliates of your choice.
The extra pay is defined as a percentage of the regular payment in the campaign details screen
example: if the bonus is 100% then the favorite affiliates
receive twice the standard commission rate. This has to be set when the campaign is created.

Can I review all affiliate and merchant information in the staff area?
Yes, there are powerful search parameters included so you can drill down your search for a specific affiliate or merchant.
Why does data in staff area look different than in merchant and affiliate areas?
To keep the server performing at optimal speed we use pre-calculated data in staff area. There is an option to recalculate
data (it only takes a few moments) and staff area information will match the rest of your network stats.
Is it possible to edit template e-mail messages?
Yes, you can edit all template e-mail messages and personalize messages to either affiliates or merchants. There are over 45
different e-mail templates that automate simple day-to-day tasks.
Is it possible to set different access levels to protect sensitive data?
Yes, system administrator can set different access levels for staff members. Level 1 gains access to all data, Level 2 can only
access affiliate and merchant accounts but cannot set any parameters for the network or the company accounts.
